My research focal point is remote sensing and GIS, with specific interest in disaster and emergency management, particularly from the developing country perspective. My interest in urban disaster and emergencies is kindled by the reactive way in which developing countries, like Nigeria, have been addressing this global phenomenon that has the potential of destroying years of limited development. I am keen in using vast opportunities made available by GIS to provide edge-cutting research capable of stimulating proactive awareness and response to varied issues threatening the concept of sustainable disaster management among countries battling with complex socioeconomic disorder, pluralized political terrain and dwindling state resources.
