Prof. O. A. Ajala graduated in 1992 with B.Sc. (Hons) in Geography. He had his Masters in Urban and Regional Planning in 1998 and Ph.D. in Geography, 2004 all from Obafemi Awolowo University.  He had a Postgraduate Diploma in Geo-information Production and Management 2016 from African Regional Institute for Geospatial Information Science and Technology (AFRIGIST) Ile-Ife. He joined the Department as a Graduate Assistant in 1994 and became Professor in 2014. He specialized in Urban and Regional Planning, with sub interest in Housing, Environmental Impact Analysis, Development issues, Inequality, Poverty and Tourism studies.  He was a visiting Associate Professor of Geography at Bahir Dar University, Bahir Dar, Ethiopia in 2006-2008. He served as Acting Head of Department in 2011-2013 and Vice-Dean of the Faculty in 2015-2017. He has produced several MSc graduates and two PhDs. He is a scholar of repute with several publications in both national and international journals.
